Daily Exercise Weight Loss Routine

Exercise, Exercise, Exercise. We need it, but let’s be honest, we don’t like it. Or we do like it, but we just can’t be bothered or feel too embarrassed because we don’t look like fitness influencers. But we do need exercise, and we need it regularly. Daily Exercise Weight Loss Routine is an important part of life we all have to get used to. Consistency is key, and that means finding ways to fit regular exercise into your Daily Exercise Weight Loss Routine and committing to it. And I agree that seems daunting, but you don’t need to be gasping for breath to be exercising right.

Understanding the Benefits Daily Exercise Weight Loss Routine

But do we really need it? I hear you cry. Well, yes. And here’s why it’s so important. The benefits of regular exercise are well documented. Regular exercise increases brain function, including memory and reasoning skills, and relieves depression, anxiety and insomnia (CDC 2022). It keeps joints supple and bones strong and reduces your risk of Heart attacks, strokes, Type 2 Diabetes and even some cancers (CDC 2022).

Moving your body regularly is a worthwhile task on its own, just look at all the benefits to your mind and body above, but if that isn’t enough to convince you to start your fitness journey now, it is also an important part of many people’s, including my own, weight loss journey because it helps burn some of the calories you eat creating that all-important calorie deficit. It also boosts motivation to stick to your healthy eating plan and can increase weight loss.

But I don’t want you to get into a calorie mindset with exercise, punishing yourself because you had that extra cookie. Instead, get into a habit-forming mindset. You’re building lasting habits that can change your life.

What exercise will fit into my Daily Exercise Weight Loss Routine

So, now I have convinced you that a regular exercise routine is worth it WHAT are you going to do? And this really depends on you, your likes, dislikes, current health and fitness levels, and socioeconomic circumstances. Did you love playing a certain sport or activity when you were younger? Look up a dance class or community basketball. Want to get strong? Weightlifting might be your thing. Can’t afford a fancy gym membership or even a budget one? See my secret weapon below.

The bottom line is to find something you enjoy that meets your current fitness needs and goals. For example, I love running, and even ran a half marathon back in the day, but the sad fact is, I’m too heavy to run. It hurts my joints and, frankly, my self-esteem. It just doesn’t fit with my current fitness level. Which brings me on to the beginner’s secret weapon. It’s free, flexible, and can be tailored to any fitness level –

Walking for Daily Exercise Weight Loss Routine

If you are carrying a significant amount of extra weight or beginning at zero with your exercise tolerance, walking really is the best beginner’s exercise that can fit into your daily routine. I couldn’t walk 10 mins without feeling breathless, and now I walk several hours several times a week and even take part in the occasional hike – though I am certainly breathless then.  You can fit it around any part of your day and don’t need any specific equipment, but I do recommend good arch support, especially if you are struggling with extra weight.

While not particularly glamorous, walking as recommended daily exercise has its own benefits. According to a Harvard study, Walking can counteract the impact of weight-promoting genes, curb food cravings, reduce the risk of certain cancers, ease joint pain and boost immunity (Harvard, 2022). It also boosts mental health and reduces anxiety and depression (APA 2022).

Success alert I recommend setting a step or time goal for your walks that you can track accurately with a smartwatch. This has been a game changer for me because seeing my recommended daily exercise charted on the app has really boosted my confidence and motivation. How to fit exercise into your Daily Exercise Weight Loss Routine

This is where things can get tricky. So how do we incorporate exercise into our daily routine?  How do you make time for regular exercise when you have to work, cook, clean, and put the kids to bed? Well, these are my tips.

  • Walk part of your work commute
  • Increase motivation by pairing exercise with something you love, like audiobooks if your reader, music, podcasts, or nature
  • Make a weekly exercise plan with a buddy – you’re less likely to jib if your friend is waiting for you
  • Offer to walk your friend’s or neighbor’s dog
  • Pick a realistic number of days and activities to do each week. If you really struggle with consistency or motivation, commit to 1 or 2 sessions of exercise per week for now and build up slowly
  • Do small bursts- waiting for dinner to cook? Work out. Kids are in bed? Try 15 minutes of yoga. Take a quick walk during your lunch break.  Working out too hard and too fast is a sure way to burn out. Take it slow, but make it regular
  • Make sure you leave rest days; you don’t want exercise fatigue. You’re much more likely to give up if you are tiring yourself out
  • Prioritize this time – prioritize you! You deserve to feel healthy and fit

The Challenges and Solutions to Daily Exercise Weight Loss Routine

So now we all know how great regular exercise is, and it sounds so simple. Just move more! But it isn’t that simple. And here’s some reasons why.

Gym Fear

Many people find the gym intimidating. Just look at those machines! And if, like me, you carry a bit extra weight, you might be worried that people will laugh at you — the fat girl running on the treadmill. It is even embarrassing to write that fear out, but it’s true. I do worry about that, BUT I don’t let it stop me.

Things to remember:

  • Nobody is watching you. It may feel like it, but honestly, people are more interested in their own exercise routine and progress to be interested in yours
  • Cocoon yourself in headphones and blast your favorite tunes
  • Be brave. Take up the space you need. You deserve to be there as much as anyone else

Being a sweaty mess around people

  • And yes, this is embarrassing and one of my personal struggles when I decided to start walking to work. But then, isn’t it just as embarrassing to be out of breath going up one flight of stairs? It’s worth it for your fitness journey, trust me. And you can always bring a change of clothes to work.

The weather is bad

  • If you are always waiting for the right conditions, you will never change your life. Living in Arizona heat? Get a gym membership or visit your local pool.

Life gets in the way

  • This is a biggy. Life does make fitting in regular exercise routines tricky. Most of us work full-time or have PTA meetings and swim meets. But it’s your life, and only you can change it. Start small but regular. Even if it is 10 minutes twice a week, commit to it. Talk to the people around you for support and encouragement.

Willpower and motivation

  • This is the other biggie. Research shows that motivation follows action, not the other way around. In other words, get exercising, and the motivation to continue will follow. But that doesn’t mean you won’t hit a snag. Mine is that inner voice telling me I deserve a rest and don’t need to hit the gym today. Before I know it, I haven’t been in 6 weeks.
  • If you struggle with motivation, try doing your chosen exercise routine first thing in the morning. Make exercise the very first thing you do when you get out of bed. That way, you don’t have time to talk yourself out of it! And start small. Small achievements will boost your confidence and your willpower.

My top tip for motivation. Half-ass it. Half-assed is better than no-assed. Can’t face that 30 min walk you planned – do 10 mins. Often just starting gives you the motivation to finish what you had planned, but if not, so what? You did some exercise today. That’s what counts.

FAQ: Daily Exercise Weight Loss Routine

What is a Daily Exercise Weight Loss Routine?

A Daily Exercise Weight Loss Routine refers to a structured plan of physical activities performed on a regular basis to promote weight loss. It involves incorporating exercises and movements into your daily schedule to create a calorie deficit and boost metabolism, leading to gradual and sustainable weight loss.

Why is a Daily Exercise Weight Loss Routine important?

Engaging in a Daily Exercise Weight Loss Routine offers numerous benefits. Firstly, it helps burn calories, aiding in weight loss by creating a consistent caloric deficit. Secondly, regular exercise boosts metabolism, leading to increased fat burning even during rest. Additionally, exercise improves cardiovascular health, builds muscle strength, enhances mood, and promotes overall well-being.

What exercises should be included in a Daily Exercise Weight Loss Routine?

A well-rounded Daily Exercise Weight Loss Routine should include a combination of cardiovascular exercises, such as brisk walking, jogging, cycling, or swimming, to increase heart rate and burn calories. Strength training exercises, using body weight or resistance, should also be incorporated to build lean muscle mass and boost metabolism. Additionally, flexibility exercises, such as yoga or stretching, improve mobility and prevent injuries.

How long should a Daily Exercise Weight Loss Routine be?

The duration of a Daily Exercise Weight Loss Routine may vary depending on individual fitness levels and preferences. Ideally, aim for at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity aerobic exercise or 75 minutes of vigorous-intensity aerobic exercise per week, as recommended by health organizations. It can be divided into smaller sessions of 30 minutes or more throughout the week, depending on your schedule and availability.

Is it necessary to consult a healthcare professional before starting a Daily Exercise Weight Loss Routine?

It is generally advisable to consult with a healthcare professional, especially if you have any pre-existing medical conditions, are significantly overweight, or have been inactive for an extended period. They can provide personalized guidance and ensure that your chosen exercise routine is safe and suitable for your specific needs and health condition.

Can a Daily Exercise Weight Loss Routine be combined with other weight loss strategies?

Absolutely! A Daily Exercise Weight Loss Routine can be complemented with other weight loss strategies such as maintaining a balanced and nutritious diet, staying hydrated, getting adequate sleep, and managing stress levels. These combined efforts create a holistic approach to weight loss and promote overall health and well-being.

How long will it take to see weight loss results with a Daily Exercise Weight Loss Routine?

The time it takes to see weight loss results varies among individuals and depends on various factors such as current weight, body composition, exercise intensity, and dietary habits. Consistency and adherence to the routine are crucial. With a well-designed routine and a healthy lifestyle, noticeable weight loss results can typically be seen within a few weeks to a few months.

Can a Daily Exercise Weight Loss Routine be modified or personalized?

Absolutely! A Daily Exercise Weight Loss Routine should be flexible and adaptable to individual preferences and capabilities. You can modify the exercises, their intensity, duration, and frequency based on your fitness level and goals. It’s important to listen to your body, start gradually, and progress at a pace that is comfortable and sustainable for you.

What if I miss a day of my Daily Exercise Weight Loss Routine?

It’s normal to occasionally miss a day due to unforeseen circumstances or personal commitments. The key is to not get discouraged and resume your routine as soon as possible. Consistency is important, but one missed day doesn’t have to derail your progress. Stay motivated, focus on your long-term goals, and continue with your exercise routine the following day.

Can a Daily Exercise Weight Loss Routine be suitable for beginners?

Absolutely! A Daily Exercise Weight Loss Routine can be tailored to accommodate beginners. It’s important to start gradually and listen to your body. Begin with low-impact exercises and shorter durations, gradually increasing intensity and duration as your fitness level improves. Consulting with a fitness professional or personal trainer can also be helpful in designing a safe and effective routine for beginners.
